Papa and Mama spent a few days in Milwaukee to celebrate their 10th wedding anniversary. This is the really cute (and unfortunately crooked) Irish inn they stayed at called the County Clare. Everything was green!!!
While they were there they took a tour of the Harley Davidson Museum. I didn’t get to go and I’m really bummed. They said it rocked! Check out their website here.
Check out some of their most popular engines!
I think Mama’s time away was going to her head!
See what I mean? This is a lemon in her water in the cafe at the HD museum. She said it looks like the straw is piercing right through the center.
Look Mama…breast cancer! (Ok…I wasn’t there, but I did say that when I saw the photo!)
Well, it sure looks cool, but Papa didn’t make it all the way home—shucks! P.S. Where’s your helmet Papa? That’s not safe!
They also went and toured the Milwaukee Public Museum. Check out this Woolly Mammoth cast! They even have the real bones, but they keep them in a safe protected area for additional research.
Can you guess who the predator is and who the prey is? (I’m sure glad Mama and Papa weren’t eaten for dinner too!)
Mama keeps trying to explain this chart to me, but I just keep telling her that that is hot a man!
Whoa! I spy a Great White Shark!!!
They also had a real ancient mummy. Mama, who is that???
Here’s a tricky one…what do you think…real person dressed like an Indian or mannequin dressed like an Indian…anyone?
This is one of Mama’s favorite photos. This is the Quadracci Pavilion. It is a really cool art museum, designed by Santiago Calatrava, in the shape of a huge boat! Mama did not get to go inside because just like most art museums it was closed on Monday, but despite that she could have easily stayed another hour just taking all kinds of photos of the outside!
Not far from Marquette University this car pulled up next to Mama and Papa. It was a curious thing, apparently! In fact, Mama said the car was talking all kinds of words and phrases that didn’t really make any sense! I can’t believe I missed that!
Mama sought out this very petite french cathedral. It is located on the Marquette University campus, but has a very unique history. It is called the St. Joan of Arc Cathedral. A woman inherited the cathedral from her family centuries ago and decided to have it removed from France, transported and then rebuilt on Long Island, NY. A century or so later another woman had a similar idea and once again had the cathedral taken apart and relocated to Marquette’s campus. The architecture and stained glass windows are beautiful. In fact, Mama said it still has the original terra cotta roof tiles! If you want to see more pics you’ll have to email Mama or check out it’s website. There were just too many to choose from!
This is an awesome french restaurant called Bartolotta’s Lake Park Bistro. The food was amazing and the lake view was beautiful too. They even gave Mama and Papa a complimentary champagne toast to celebrate their anniversary. (Hmm…what is champagne?)
Last, but not least, Mama and Papa stopped at this fairly well-known cheesecake bakery. It is called Simma’s Bakery. Yes, they ate cheesecake for breakfast—and didn’t bring me home any! How fair is that? Of course, they said the cheesecake was incredible! *sigh* Maybe next time? I hope everyone had a great week or two as we head into April. Come back and check the website soon as Mama is working on a post of my rockstar costume birthday party!
