Thanksgiving Weekend!

pic 1
We put our Christmas tree up…woo-hoo! And of course I was a beautiful cooperative angel!

pic 1
pic 1
I also got to go to an awesome birthday party this past weekend for a preschool friend.

pic 1
He even had cupcakes with Star Wars rings on them. I picked Darth Vader, of course!

pic 1
We also got our first measurable snow!

pic 1
Next thing I knew…it was Turkey Day! Isn’t ours beautiful?

pic 1
Mama even went the traditional way this year…except for this really yummy walnut/blueberry salad.

pic 1
It was totally delicious!

pic 1
pic 1
We made our annual Turkey Day trip to the zoo and even saw a couple of new things!

pic 1
Hmm…I spy…a green and red poison dart frog!

pic 1
I think the lion ate too much turkey!!!

pic 1
What do you think…is my pose good enough for a free sundae?

pic 1
Uhm…I think the kanagroo is too small for you, Grandpa Sam!!!

pic 1
Saturday morning we watched an awesome shadow puppet performance by Daniel Barash and then came home to create our own version. Can you guess the characters in our show?

pic 1
What a great holiday weekend. I wish every weekend was a holiday weekend! I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving. We’ll see you next week!

To Texas, then Oklahoma, and back to Texas again! Part II

pic 1
Can you believe this is Austin, TX? It looks more like the Congo out there. I hope there aren’t any gorillas hiding behind those hills!

pic 1
Check out Aby’s power kick. Aby’s last soccer game was while we were visiting Austin. It was so cool to watch her play! Go Aby go!

pic 1
I think I’ve just about got it down now!

pic 1
Check out this corn dog at Austin’s Celtic Festival! I think it’s the biggest corn dog in the whole world. Can you believe I ate the whole thing and then asked for a second one?

pic 1

pic 1
Check out our dancing at the Celtic Festival. The music was awesome. One of our favorites was called Rising Gael. The guitar player even played his guitar while it was hanging behind his head! The other cool thing is that half of the band was from Wisconsin and all of the band goes to college in Wisconsin.

pic 1
pic 1
We also got our faces painted at the festival. Aby picked Scotland’s blue and white flag and I picked a black dragon breathing fire. They looked awesome.

pic 1
We also got to see some irish dancers…and of course we both stayed out of trouble. :)

pic 1
We also ate at a really cool Irish restaurant one day for lunch. It was called Fado. We all ate this amazing potato thing that came with a veggie/cheese sauce. It was heavenly!

pic 1
Uhm…I think this helmet is a little heavy…hello? anyone? bueller?

pic 1
No silly people here…just a bunch of serious hard nosed business people!

pic 1
Uh-oh. Mama found an Ikea! I can’t believe she’s been going to the one in Chicago all this time while leaving me at home. I’ve been missing out!!! Aby and I had a blast!

pic 1
Well, at least until spun me so fast that I rolled down the cement aisle in this hard plastic chair!!! Ouch!! What an amazing trip. Thank you to everyone for making it so wonderful! P.S. Uncle Nathan…is quiet time over yet? :) Have a great Thanksgiving! We should have some great Turkey pics next weekend!

To Texas, Then Oklahoma and Back To Texas Again!

pic 1
You mean I get to ride on that airplane?

pic 1
5-4-3-2-1 blast off! (Yes, it’s dark outside. That’s because we woke up and got onto the airplane before the sun rose!!!)

pic 1
Uncle Nathan and Cousin Aby picked us up at the Dallas airport. This is what two 4.5 yeard olds look like in the back seat of a car heading north…

pic 1
to Oklahoma City. We did a great job in the car…with only a few parental shushes and one stop for a game of soccer tag.

pic 1
We stayed at Mama’s grandma’s house while visiting Oklahoma. We were so excited to see toys. Everyone kept telling us that the legos and books she has have passed through the hands of the many. We were so excited to be next! Thank you Grandma for keeping these around!

pic 1
The weather was amazing in OKC. Mama and I pulled out the shorts for our trip. I have not been able to wear shorts for weeks!

pic 1
I’m sure there’s a winter storm coming…it says so on my camera…

pic 1
After 2 days visiting with family in OKC we headed south again, back to the Lone Star state. (I’m sure they play bass here in TX too!)

pic 1
We met up with Aunt Tammy and her boyfriend, Stephen, in Fort Worth and stayed one night there. Mama and Uncle Nathan stayed up late chit-chatting while Aby and I were sleeping, but that was okay. When we woke up the next morning we met Aunt Tammy and Stephen at the Forth Worth zoo…and I swear…it was the best zoo I’ve ever been to! Check out this chimp checking us out!

pic 1
I like the flamingos too. I was showing Aunt Tammy how I can stand on one leg too. I’m sure she was impressed. The cool thing about this zoo was getting to see all of the animals that think WI is too darn cold.

pic 1
Hmmm…I wonder where we should go next? I haven’t seen Zebras or Baboon’s before…let’s start there!

pic 1
We also had to make a stop at the famous “Braum’s”. Can you believe they don’t even offer milk or juice with their kids meals? It’s pop only! I’ve never heard of such a thing! Thank you for such a fun day Aunt Tammy and Stephen!

pic 1
pic 1
Uhm, yes. Uncle Nathan and Mama stopped the car on our way to Austin for a break to eat ice cream. And, yes, this is what happens to kids that have been stuck in a car and then eat ice cream. Pandemonium!!!

pic 1
After a rather long period of ‘quiet time’ in the car (after our ice cream visit) we finally arrived in Austin…just in time to have dinner at an awesome outdoor restaurant (called Oasis) on Lake Travis at sunset.

pic 1
pic 1
pic 1
There it goes…down beyond the horizon. At the restaurant they even rang a bell to tell us exactly when the sun set. How cool was that?

pic 1
Check out Aby’s hair!

pic 1
Can my hair do that too?

pic 1
The dinner and sunset were so great…I think all that’s left is a trip to the moon! What a night!

pic 1
Aby and I had a really good time being as silly as possible in her bedroom. Cousin Aby was wearing a shirt that meowed and I think we might have run the battery down! meow!

pic 1
Check out Austin’s capitol building. It looks a lot like Madison’s…except our lady on top is shiny gold.

pic 1
Who knew capitol buildings could be so much fun?

pic 1
pic 1
We put on our best presidential faces…how did we do?

pic 1
We keep seeing these signs everywhere, but Austin didn’t seem weird to us at all. Hmm…maybe that means we’re weird too!

pic 1
Well, this guitar on the side of the road is kind of weird…but I think it’s really cool. Well, this is about all that’s going to fit in this post, but there is more to cover. Mama took over 700 pictures so I’m sure you can understand how hard it is to choose the best ones! Coming up in our next post we’ll have pictures of fog, a very unusual helmet, irish dancing, soccer and maybe even a few smiles and (don’t look Terese, Stephen and Aunt Tammy) “HORNS”!!! The next post will be up soon…so don’t forget to check back!

A Day or Two in the Life of Gene!

pic 1
He gets up early to put on his face…

pic 1
and then I think Gene starts the morning out at preschool…and maybe sings a song or two.

pic 1
Next, I think he follows the performance up with an art project or two (check out the mini-special effect!)…

pic 1
and might even pick out a playmate (or two). (I have my sights on a butterfly this year.)

pic 1
He might also venture out for some shopping…

pic 1
in fact he might even survive his first trip ever to a Super Wal-Mart!

pic 1
Of course after the shopping trip he might stop by the local music store…to check out any new equipment they have…

pic 1
or possibly add a new bass to his display.

pic 1
As it starts to get dark outside…he might light his Halloween pumpkin display…

pic 1
and check the trick-or-treat weather: The moon is out…it’s 40 degrees…Let’s go!

pic 1
Do you think I can carry my treat bag and my bass guitar at the same time? (We beat you to it…uncle-ish Scott. It just hadn’t appeared in the photos yet…and technically it’s a BASS guitar!!)

pic 1
Here we are! In Wisconsin we trick-or-treat in pacts. It’s warmer that way!!!

pic 1
Maybe they’ll come fast if we both scream really loud!

pic 1
What could possibly be scary about us?

pic 1
Wow…what a night!

pic 1
Uh-oh it’s time for the neighborhood haunted house…

pic 1
SPOOKY!!!

pic 1
There’s a real person under there! A werewolf jumped out and scared the bits out of Mama and Auntie Robyn too…too bad there’s no photo of that!

pic 1
Mama’s my manager. These people keep asking if I know who KISS is and when Mama answers them they keep asking if she’s joking. What’s up with that?

pic 1
Uhm…..GROSS!

pic 1
THE LOOT!!!! Can I try one of everyone tonight?

pic 1
pic 1
I also had a brief stint as an I Spy book by Jean Marzollo. I came up with the idea all by myself and Mama and I ran around the house collecting things small enough to tape to my shirt. How do you think we did? Everyone at our 2nd Halloween party thought it was a really cool idea. If you ever make it out here for a visit…you might get more I Spy than you bargained for!! I hope everyone had a delicious Halloween. We’re off to party in Oklahoma and Texas! See y’all later!
