Nolan can’t wait for college football to start!
Nolan thinks “The Wolverines aren’t bad, and Papa grew up in Michigan.”
“And Mama grew up in Oklahoma. The Sooners aren’t too bad either…but what the heck IS their mascot?!?!”
“But I’m a Wisconsin baby so the only team for me is the Badgers. Go Bucky!!!”
So, it’s education time. The OU Sooners are named after some cheaters of the landrun. I know, it’s not the most well-thought-out for a mascot, but it’s what we’re stuck with. So, the physical mascot is the Sooner Schooner, representing the prarie schooners driven by the people who jumped the gun during the great land run of 1889 and staked out their property the night before (and didn’t get shot by marshals). Some would say they were opportunists and rulebreakers – others would say they were just forward thinking. Whatever the truth about the Land Run folks, they are now one heckuva football team! Go Sooners!
Oh, and Nolan is soooooooooooo cute!
It must be awfully hot standing in the endzone in a Schooner (WAGON) costume…does that come with it’s own lighted sword?!

Sooner? Schooner? Boomer? I tried to explain it all to Nolan, but he just gave me a blank look. Then I said “Bucky Badger” and he couldn’t stop smiling – go figure!
From the pix, I thought he was already singing the sooner song! he still has Kentucky blood though so maybe he will be able to pluck the sonner song on a banjo!
